The Session, acting with an abundance of caution, has decided that we will suspend worship in person for the indefinate future. We feel that this decision, while painful, is the best for our church family. This decision was not made out of a sense of panic, but out of concern to care for each other and for the community at large. Indeed, how could we panic, when we know that God is always with us, even in times of uncertainty? Especially in times of uncertainty.
Despite the disruption to our weekly routine, the Session is actively looking for ways to keep us connected as a church family. One way that we will do that is to worship by phone and online at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Call the office or email to get log-in information.
We will reevaluate our next steps in June regarding the resumption of regular activities and extended office/pantry hours for the church.
As you can imagine, the financial responsibilities of the church are not taking a break simply because of health emergency. We still have commitments made to our staff members, and we still have bills and obligations that need to be met. For the financial health and well-being of the church, it would be most helpful for our members to keep up with their tithes and offerings. You may still mail checks to the church, 5931 Swope Parkway, KCMO, 64130. But know too, that the Session has establish electronic giving for keeping up with our stewardship responsibilities. You can create an account on Tithe.ly or download their app. (https://tithe.ly/give) Call if you have additional questions!.
In other related news, the office will be open 10:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday through Friday during the pandemic shut-down. We are continuing to distribute food to those in need, but we have made changes to eliminate physical contact. Our clients are not coming in to the building to utilize the pantry, but are given bags of food at the front door, in order to lessen the chance of spreading potential illness.
